Taking on new freelance projects

Freelance full-stack software engineer in LondonI build the softwareyour businessruns on.

Custom web applications, APIs, MVPs and integrations for UK businesses, founders and teams.

7+ years of engineering, from sole-developer builds to live commercial platforms. I take a project from the first conversation to software that keeps working long after launch.

Selected work

Real products, in use today.

An independent product I built and run, websites I built single-handed for real businesses, and live platforms I worked on as part of a senior engineering team.

Independent product

AlignCV

A CV-tailoring web app that rewrites a CV for a specific job — and rejects any line it can't trace back to the original.

Built single-handed

Websites for an education consultancy and a care provider, where I was the only developer — design through to deployment.

Education

DHUB Education

The first website for an education consultancy: course pages, online student registration and applications, and a content area the team manages themselves.

Sole developer. JavaScript, PHP, HTML5, Tailwind CSS, Bootstrap

Health and social care

Jordan Care

The first website for a care provider: clear pages for each care service, enquiry and appointment request forms, and an admin area for managing content.

Sole developer. JavaScript, PHP, HTML5, Tailwind CSS, Bootstrap

Commercial platforms, as part of a team

Four live online casino brands on one shared platform, where I worked as a senior developer in the engineering team that builds and maintains it. The brands belong to their operator.

Four live online casino brands running on one shared platform. As part of the senior engineering team I built an automated content translation workflow and integrated the sportsbook into the landing page.

What I built

  • An automated content translation workflow for brand content
  • Sportsbook integration on the landing page

Senior software developer, senior engineering team. Go, TypeScript, JavaScript, Node.js, AWS

What you can hire me for.

Most projects start with a problem rather than a technology. Open any of these to see what it involves and who it suits.

Not sure which one fits? Describe the problem instead.

Web applications built from scratch

You need software that fits how your business actually works — a customer portal, a booking system, a dashboard — and nothing off the shelf quite does.

What I deliver

  • A complete web application: interface, back end, database and hosting
  • Customer portals, dashboards and admin areas
  • Secure sign-in and role-based access
  • A codebase another developer can pick up later

Suited to

Businesses replacing spreadsheets or patchwork tools, and organisations with a clear process to put online.

Next step

Tell me what the software needs to do and who will use it. Start an enquiry

Back-end systems and APIs

Your app or website needs a reliable engine behind it — business rules, data, integrations — that won't fall over as usage grows.

What I deliver

  • REST APIs designed around your data and your clients' needs
  • Database design and migrations
  • Background jobs, queues and scheduled tasks
  • Authentication, authorisation and sensible security defaults

Suited to

Teams with a front end but no back end, and products outgrowing their first server setup.

Next step

Share what your system has to handle and what it connects to. Start an enquiry

MVPs for founders

You have an idea and need a first version real users can try — built properly enough to keep, without overbuilding before you know what works.

What I deliver

  • Help cutting the idea down to the smallest useful first version
  • A working product, deployed and ready for real users
  • Foundations that can grow if the idea does

Suited to

Founders and early-stage startups, technical or not.

Next step

Describe the idea and who it's for — a rough description is fine. Start an enquiry

Automation and integrations

Your team copies data between systems, re-keys orders or chases the same updates by hand every week.

What I deliver

  • Connections between the tools you already use, through their APIs
  • Automated workflows that replace repetitive manual steps
  • Internal tools that pull scattered information into one place

Suited to

Small businesses and operations teams losing hours to manual admin.

Next step

List the tools involved and the job you'd like to stop doing by hand. Start an enquiry

Fixing and improving existing software

Your current website or app is slow, buggy, hard to change, or the original developer has moved on.

What I deliver

  • Bug investigation and fixes
  • Performance improvements
  • Refactoring and modernising older code
  • New features added to an existing product

Suited to

Anyone with software that works, mostly — and needs someone to take care of it.

Next step

Tell me what's going wrong and what the software is built with, if you know. Start an enquiry

More about software maintenance and bug fixing

Technical advice and ongoing development

You need an experienced engineer to help make technical decisions, plan features, or join your team for a while.

What I deliver

  • Technical planning and architecture advice
  • Code and system reviews
  • Ongoing maintenance and feature work
  • Working alongside your existing developers

Suited to

Businesses without an in-house engineer, and teams that need extra senior capacity.

Next step

Tell me about your team and where you'd like help. Start an enquiry

How I work

No surprises, start to finish.

The shape depends on the size of the job: a small fix might move through all four stages in a day, while a larger build repeats the build stage milestone by milestone.

  1. Discover

We talk through the business, the people who'll use the software, your goals and constraints, and what success looks like.

You getA call, or a written brief if you prefer

  2. Define

We agree the scope, requirements, technical approach, deliverables and milestones — in writing, before any build starts.

You getA clear proposal and price

  3. Build

I build in manageable stages, show you working progress regularly, and check each part does what it should.

You getRegular updates and things you can try

  4. Ship and support

Testing, deployment and documentation, followed by an agreed handover or ongoing maintenance.

You getLive software, and notes on how it works

Throughout: you always know what’s being worked on, what it costs and what’s next.

I build for reliability and maintainability, not just how it looks on launch day.

About

Hello, I’m Moses.

I’m a senior full-stack software engineer in London, and I’ve spent more than 7 years building and looking after software that real businesses depend on.

That’s ranged from websites I’ve built single-handed, to commercial platforms in production where I worked in a senior engineering team, to AlignCV, a product I designed, built and run myself.

I’m strongest on the back end: the APIs, data and business rules everything else relies on. But I deliver whole products, interface included, and I care about the parts clients rarely see — whether the software solves the actual problem, whether the next developer can understand it, and whether it can grow with the business.

I’ll tell you plainly what something will take. And if something isn’t worth building, I’ll tell you that too.

Track record

What you can count on.

The record

Years of professional software engineering
7+
Live business websites built as sole developer
DHUB Education, Jordan Care
Live casino brands on a shared platform, senior engineering team
Wildz, Wheelz, Caxino, Spinz
Independent product designed, built and run
AlignCV, in private beta

Earlier in my career I worked as an engineer on a sportsbook product that reportedly achieved around €5 million in turnover in its first quarter. That was a result for the whole business and team; my part was the engineering.

How I approach delivery

  • Scope in writing first

Before any build starts, we agree what's included, what isn't, and what it costs.

  • Honest estimates

If I'm unsure how long something will take, I'll say so, and explain why.

  • Progress you can see

Regular updates and working software to try, rather than silence until a deadline.

  • Built to be handed over

Readable code and documentation, so you're never dependent on one person — including me.

What are you trying to build?

You don’t need a technical specification. Tell me what’s getting in the way, or what you’d like to build, and I’ll come back with honest thoughts on how to approach it.

Plain English is perfect. What’s the problem, and who is it for?
